Pennsylvania Communications Contest

Pennsylvania Press Club members are invited to enter their best work in the 2020 Pennsylvania State Communications Contest, which encourages and rewards excellence in communication.

Our contest accommodates the typical newspaper and magazine article entries, but we also have categories for those who engage in copy editing, photography, radio/TV writing, web page design, speech writing, social media and blog writing, public relations projects and even more categories for those who write books or contribute to them.

SEE THE LIST OF 2019 CONTEST WINNERS

Our contest entry system is managed through a website maintained by the National Federation of Press Women and is accessible through the organization's website at www.nfpw.org.

All Pennsylvania residents and those who contribute to Pennsylvania-based products are eligible to enter this year’s contest.

Entry deadline

The 2020 contest will open for entries on October 1, 2019.

So why enter?

Any year is a great year to enter if you have work that deserves to be evaluated for recognition. Too often in our business, we get a project done and move onto the next one. Entering our contest is your chance to be honored for that work.

So how do I enter?

To enter the contest, visit the contest site and follow the directions for entry.

For technical questions about entering the contest, please contact the NFPW office at 804-746-1033 or send an email to Contest@NFPW.org.

For policy questions about the contest please contact Teri Ehresman at 208-521-5171 or email her at IslandPark723@gmail.com.

What do I win?

Winners of the state-level contest will receive certificates and a chance to be recognized as the Sweepstakes Winner for garnering the most points.

In addition, all first-place winners at the state level will have their entry forwarded — at no cost — to the national level of competition, as long as the entrant is an NFPW and PPC member.

The top three entries in the sweepstakes contest receive cash prizes.

How much does it cost to enter?

A current NFPW/PPC member who enters the Pennsylvania contest will pay $15 for the first entry and $10 for each additional entry.

But the contest is open to non-members, too, at the charge of $20 for the first entry and $10 for each additional entry. We do ask that you have some affiliation with Pennsylvania if you are entering the Pennsylvania contest. Otherwise, we will direct you to a state contest offered by another affiliate or to the at-large contest, which accepts entries from those in locations where there is no affiliate contest.

One more thing

In our contest, you can submit as many entries as you like. For example, if you finished three books this year, feel free to enter each book, giving you three entries in our contest. Same goes for feature story writers. If you have three really good ones, feel free to enter all three and see if the points will add up.

Good luck!
